Ah, part of the Calender project that I'm working on. 13 spacescapes for a 13 month calender. That's approx. 78 hours of digital work... I don't have that kind of time right now, but maybe over the summer I can push out some more.

Little bit of background info on this image. Originally I was going to take two public domain images (one of the earth and one of the earth at night) and merge the two to produce the desired effect seen above in the image. However there was a slight problem: my two images didn't match up right and the result looked terrible in my eyes. The solution was a simple on although it was most time consuming. I took the one image of the earth and then burned, dodged, multiplied, copied, overlayed, added layers, erased stuff, painted stuff, added noise, blurred stuff and finally got the result that I wanted.

I'm actually really pleased with myself with the way this came out. In many ways I think it's better that I basically painted the whole dark side by hand, kinda makes the image my own.

The moon took all of perhaps 4 minutes to do, lol.
