Convention?...

Mon Feb 9, 2009, 9:42 PM
yup, it's true, I'm headed to a convention. This March I'll be at All-Con in Dallas with a table selling prints of my artwork not featured here on dA. I'll also be selling a novel that I created the cover art for (yes I have the author's permission to do so).

I hope to have some more artwork uploaded soon. Feels kinda weird coming back after a long time being away, but so is things.

anyways, I've suddenly got lots of time on my hands, so I'll try to get back into the groove here on dA.

5 kiloparsecs and 5 kiloviews

Tue Nov 27, 2007, 2:24 PM
when did this happen? when did I break the 5k views limit? I have no idea. this just furthers the fact that school seems to be taking just way too much of my time... correction, E&M is taking way too much of my time. I've spent more time on this one class than all my other classes combined! but the end of the tunnel is in sight. I can see the top of the mountain at this point. after this semester there will be no more physics classes for me to take (that are required for my degree) so as a result I signed up for an astronomy class just to still be around the building, lol.

in other, weather related, news... we did not have thanksgiving this year... instead we had pre-christmas. allow me to explain further...
I live here in the middle of dry-hot-texas, so there's really never any snow (and what little bit we do get from time to time is a dusty brown color...), so I was genuinely surprised when we got 4 to 7 inches of snow on thanksgiving day (we did have thanksgiving, but I ended up misnomering it and saying christmas the whole day, lol). really odd weather we're having, must check the number and duration of sunspots recently...

almost done with the semester, must push thru the last few weeks.

anyways, thanks for listening, and as always...

Ok folks, here's the deal. I'd like to get to know you guys and gals better here on dA. Seems a shame that the only times I talk to you folks are when there's comments posted for deviations or journals. However, since it seems sometimes rather inappropriate to just randomly pick up someone's messenger stuff (at least it kinda does to me) I'll just ask ya.

So, if you're interested, send me a note with your messenger services if ya have them. My info is on the front page, but just in case here it is again:

I was featured in :icontwilight-kibeti:'s journal!

-Rules-

The first ten people who reply to this journal and tell me that they want a spot will have me go through their gallery and pick my three favorite deviations, which in turn will be featured in this journal.

In return you'll have to post a journal like this. Really a snazzy thing to do.

Sorry it's taken me a while, but I had lots of homework to get done first, lol.

What a variety of fractals! I've always been a fan of fractals, and although each one is based off of some mathematical calculation each one is vastly different from the last. Some are amazingly complex while others are beautiful in their simplicity. Fractals are not all this artist does however, among her gallery one can also find photographic art as well as digital art.

Javs has an amazing talent with his camera. So many times I see his pictures and think "wow" (though most times I usually end up saying something like "snazzy"). While there isn't much in his gallery what he does have there is most impressive. Sometimes abstract, sometimes scenic, and always fascinating the different perspectives that keep me interested in this world. Many times I feel as if I've either stepped into the twilight zone or just stepped off of a plane in some distant land.

Santi's art has always been one that I can't quite categorize. It never seems to fit in with general classifications of artwork, but that's what's so very appealing about it. I remember that I hadn't known him long when we decided upon an art trade and I was blown away by his portion of the trade. Ink, paint, and photoshop, he does well in most mediums.

One of my best friends not only in the real world but also here on dA. She continues to amaze me with her ability to draw in the Lion King style of artwork. Markers and paper are her medium and I daresay she's quite talented with those markers. Over the past few years she's done several trades, gifts, and commissions for me.

This guy is awesome. Not only have I been able to see his skill as an artist (and a writer!) get better over time. While he doesn't do much in the way of coloring that's just fine by me. It's kinda nice to have some shading in just pencil, and some pencil only sketch art. I know I haven't said much before, but his style of writing is snazzy. I find that I'm very picky about the styles of writing that I read. If I can't get farther than the first few pages, I usually drop the book. I recommend that you go out and read some of his stuff. It's really snazzy. (I'm gonna post artwork here though as I find it difficult to select just one piece of literature to best represent his style).

The guy's amazing with flash and photoshop, too bad he doesn't post more often, but that's understandable I guess since he is a physics major. Although he doesn't have a very large gallery there's quite a lot of effort put into some of his works (and some of them I find cool anyways). Go take a look. (And Conn, go post more stuff).

One of the first good friends (and still a really dear friend) that I made here on dA. She's since changed her dA account name, but her old account is still open and has lots of her work, a lot of which is awesome in my opinion. Her medium early on was pencil paper and colored pencil, but she's since moved on to work with the gimp and other such programs doing more digital art. Take a look at her gallery and also take a look at her old gallery (which she should think about archiving and saving, 'cause it's full of awesome).

Ah, my friend on the other side of the world, Chris. Met him when I joined the DC forum. An Ozy and Millie fan-artist and really good with backgrounds. Chris also does work with modding games such as C&C generals. I've done several trades with him and have been pleased with the outcomes of each and every one. Check his stuff out, really cool stuff.

Man has this guy got some humor to his artwork. The style is very much to my liking as it has a sort of cartoony effect without being too much like some of the more modern day cartoons that I'm not too fond of. His humor is quite eloquent and plays occasionally on inside jokes, this being said I can find the humor in what he creates and still laugh about it (even though I may not be part of the original inside joke, he has a way of letting people in). And my last selection of his pieces was due in part to the fact that it was just an epic scene.

:work: From the News Desk: Yeah, I know, kinda still amazing that I'm still alive, lol. I feel like I'm under an energy crisis what with all the burning of the midnight oil I've done recently. Seems like I've not been to bed before 0200 every day (soon after to wake up around 0645). Life is crazy, but maybe there's hope in sight, a chance to slow down a bit and relax. This week seems to have taken more than just a few days to go by... seems like it's been two or three weeks now..

Anyways, I'm still around and kicking (kicking E&M homework that is... late into the night :XD: ). Drop me a note sometime, say hello or something, love to hear from ya all.

Thanks for listening!

As always, see ya around the galaxy...

Oh, and before I forget, yes I still will do art trades and commission work. it just might take a little longer, but I'd love to do some art. giver me a challenge or something.
